Browns Landscape Solutions LTD are committed to minimising the impact we have on the local and global environment.

Our Environmental Mission Statement

Browns Landscape Solutions LTD are committed to minimising the impact we have on both the local and global environment. We ensure all possible steps are taken to prevent pollution, damage to habitats, and to reduce its carbon footprint during all operations, be it in the office, on the road or onsite. We revise and update this policy and strategy on a regular basis.

Our Environmental Strategy is as follows:

General

  • Browns Landscape Solutions LTD and its staff are committed to meet all relevant legal requirements, Environmental Legislation Standards, and Codes of Practice.

  • We take all steps to minimise risk to staff, customers, the public, property and to wildlife. ·

  • We continually re-assess our Environmental Policy to respond to and incorporate new ideas.

Tools & Consumables

  • Browns Landscape Solutions LTD are committed to investing in tools and equipment that are fuel efficient and sourced from mainstream, ethical manufacturers.

  • We continually invest in Li-Ion battery tools which reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and are cleaner and quieter for the environment and the user.

  • We use Bio Degradable Chainsaw oil to minimise pollution of the environment when working.

  • All waste products produced as a result of our tools and consumables are disposed of properly and recycled at every opportunity.

Habitat

  • Nesting birds, their nests and eggs are protected by the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Many other species such as bats, Red Squirrels and badgers are also protected. We work within the guidelines set out in the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000.

  • We undertake a Bird & Bat Presence Survey prior to tree work. We inform our customers and clients of any protected species which may be present and take the appropriate action required.

  • We encourage the planting of new trees if we are removing a tree (where possible), and are keen to give customers advice that promotes tree health. We can supply and plant most varieties of Native Trees.

  • Where possible we leave habitat piles or dead stems (monoliths) to encourage moss, fungi and wildlife, and to minimize the impact on the local flora & fauna.

  • We encourage our customers to install bird and/or bat boxes where appropriate and will hang these for no additional charge if working on the tree.

Waste

  • We promote the re-use of waste materials; by seasoning our waste wood as logs for fuel or supplying wood chip as a ground covering.

  • Green waste is sent to a) green waste recycling facilities and is used to fertilize, once composted, local farmland. Or b) biomass facilities which use the product as a carbon neutral source of fuel

  • We operate in compliance with our Environment Agency waste disposal licence.

Carbon Footprint

  • We aim to minimise energy wastage and reduce our carbon footprint by using the most efficient routes for travel and the most appropriate vehicles for each job.

  • All our staff drive and operate efficiently minimising fuel usage.

  • Petrol / Diesel Vehicles and tools are not left with the engines idling when not in use and for no longer than necessary.

  • Where possible, we keep paper usage to a minimum and recycle any waste.
